Upper Meat Boy Forever is a highly anticipated video game developed by Team Meat. It is the sequel to the original Super Meat Boy game which was released in 2010. The game is a platformer known for its challenging gameplay and quirky characters. This article will delve into the art and design of Super Meat Boy Forever and find out what makes it such a standout title in the gaming industry.
Art Style
Super Meat Boy Forever has a unique and vibrant art style that sets it apart from other platformers. The game is set in a colorful, cartoonish world that is full of life and energy. All characters are drawn with exaggerated features, such as Meat Boy's large eyes and Dr. Fetus' large head. The art style is reminiscent of classic cartoons, but with a modern twist that makes it feel fresh and exciting.
One of the most notable aspects of the art style in Super Meat Boy Forever is its use of light and shadow. The game uses dynamic lighting to create a sense of depth and atmosphere in each level. The lighting effects also add to the game's sense of speed and tempo, giving the feeling that the player is constantly moving forward.
Level design is also a major part of the game's art style. Each level is intricately designed with a unique theme and aesthetic. From dark and moody caves to bright and colorful city scenes, each level feels like a fully realized world. The use of color and lighting is particularly effective in creating a sense of atmosphere in each level.
Character Design
The characters in Super Meat Boy Forever are all unique and memorable. Meat Boy, the game's protagonist, is a small, red, cube-shaped character with large, expressive eyes. The character design is simple yet effective, making it easy for players to identify with and root with Meat Boy as he navigates through each level.
Dr. Fetus, the game's main antagonist, is also a memorable character. He is a small, white, embryo-like creature with a large head and a sinister grin. The character's design is both creepy and comical, making him the perfect villain for the game's light-hearted tone.
Apart from the main characters of the game, there are also many supporting characters which add to the charm of the game. These characters include Bandage Girl, Meat Boy's love interest, and The Kid, a fan-favorite character from the original game. Each character is designed with a unique personality and appearance, making them feel like fully realized individuals.
Animation
The animation in Super Meat Boy Forever is top notch. Each character is animated with fluid, cartoonish movements that make them feel like they're part of a living, breathing world. The animation also adds to the game's sense of speed and tempo, giving the feeling that the player is constantly moving forward.
One of the standout features of the animation in Super Meat Boy Forever is the use of ragdoll physics. When a character dies, they fall in a heap and bounce around the screen. This adds a humorous element to the game's high-stakes gameplay, making it less frustrating when the player fails a level.
Sound Design
The sound design in Super Meat Boy Forever is just as impressive as the game's art and animation. The game features a catchy soundtrack filled with upbeat, energetic tunes that matches the fast-paced gameplay of the game. The sound effects are also top notch, with each jump, dash and death accompanied by a satisfying sound effect.
The game also includes voice acting for some of the characters, adding another layer of personality to the game's already engaging cast. The high-pitched screams of Meat Boy and Dr. Fetus's wicked swagger is just a few examples of the game's excellent voice acting.
About
Super Meat Boy Forever takes place a few years after the events of Super Meat Boy. Meat Boy and Bandage Girl have been living a happy life free of doctor embryos for many years and now they have a wonderful little baby boy named Nugget. Nugget is ecstatic and he is all for Meat Boy and Bandage Girl. One day while our heroes are out on a picnic, Dr. Fetus sneaks up on them, knocks Meat Boy and Bandage Girl unconscious with a shovel, and kidnaps Nugget! When our heroes arrived and found Nugget missing, they knew who to go after. He snaps his fingers and decides not to stop until he gets the nugget back and teaches Dr. Fetus a very important lesson. A lesson that can only be taught with punches and kicks.
Challenge of Super Meat Boy returns in Super Meat Boy Forever. The levels are brutal, death is inevitable, and players will get that sweet feeling of accomplishment once they beat a level. Players will run, jump, punch, and kick through familiar settings and entirely new worlds.
What's better than playing through Super Meat Boy Forever once? The answer is simple: playing through Super Meat Boy Forever multiple times and having new levels to play each time. The levels are randomly generated and each time the game is completed the option to replay the game appears and creates a new experience by presenting different levels with their own unique secret locations. We have created literally thousands of levels for players to enjoy and conquer. You can replay Super Meat Boy Forever from start to finish any number of times before you see duplicate levels. It is truly a remarkable feat of engineering and a monumental example of ignoring the limits of rational game design and production.
They don't give Oscars to games, but they will probably become the best movie of 2020 and 2021 after Super Meat Boy Forever! Our story takes Meat Boy and Bandage Girl through several worlds in search of their cute little nugget with beautifully animated cutscenes and musical accompaniment that makes Citizen Kane look like a reaction video to a sled unboxing. Players will laugh, they will cry, and when all is said and done they'll probably come out a little better off than when they started. Ok so that last part maybe not but marketing text is hard to write.
